/* LINUX ON LAPTOPS */

                                                                                     IBM ThinkPad 600

I installed the Linux SuSE 7.2 on my ThinkPad 600.

I had no problem to install it. I partitioned only my hard disk.

   Video Display:

It run very very good. Perfectly. You can with SuSE , RedHat , configure the drivers, the MHz ..

In the list , you can choice IBM THINKPAD TFT as Display Video.

     Sound :

Good!. Run ALSA . It found your driver and go on :) . You can see the BIOS ( Push F1 ,when the laptop is off , and when it`s on ) click on the icon TEST

and after click in AUDIO. It make a scan.. :) after restart. In the Xterm run alsaconf you must be ROOT , and found your PCI-card sound. After it will make

a test , it will make to listen you a little song. For setting the sound , volume, with gamix or alsamixer.

     Serial Ports :

I`m sorry .. but the serial ports are disabled by default.. You can set the serial ports with PS2 . See Thomas Hood's ThinkPad 600 page for more details.

However you can use only the Infrared port . Good luck :)

    Little commands : ( with uttcp )

    PS2 serial on

    PS2 IR disable

    PS2 sera enable

    Now .. reboot : )

   IModem :

The internal modem is a winmodem. There are the patches.. as Mwave.

    PCMCIA:

    I must buy it ! :)
