Real estate in Tuscany. Historical building in Italy. Tuscan palace available for rent.

Large space inside a historical Tuscan palace is available for rent for educational purposes or others (center for staff training or for leisure, office building, club, wine tasting, or a tourist or holiday accomodation). In the heart of Tuscany, Italy, and in the center of the beautifully preserved medieval city fortress of Colle di Val d'Elsa stands the Palazzo Morozzi, a historic Tuscan palace with its roots in the 13th century. Colle di Val d'Elsa is conveniently located upon a hill overlooking the countryside of Tuscany between the cultural and economic centers of both Florence (24 miles) and Siena (12 miles) and easily reachable from both by a free-toll highway (superstrada). It is also within a few miles of San Gimignano and Volterra on the edge with the Chianti area (click here to see a map of Colle's location). The palace has been extensively and carefully restored over the past decade with close attention given to historical and architectural concerns. It is divided into the following sections:
The basement, with garden. This area represents the medieval foundations of the building, with stone rooms and tunnels, grottos and caves;
The ground floor with attics. This space is divided into several rooms, some of which have attics and windows on the garden.
First floor or "Piano Nobile". The Piano Nobile or noble level of the building is the floor upon which the Lord and Lady of the Palace and their family would live. It includes rooms with frescos and a veranda with view on the garden and hillsides.
Second floor. It has the same configuration as the first floor with the addition of a large attic (third floor) and a two-story tower. The second and third floors are currently the private home of the owners. The tower holds two guestrooms with private bathroom, kitchenette and panoramic terrace on the very top of the tower itself. The basement, the ground floor and the first floor, consisting of approximately 6,000 square feet and 1,800 square feet of garden, have been completely consolidated and structurally restored. Plasters, frames (windows and doors), lighting plant, heating system and bathrooms need yet to be finished. Thus, this area can be completed with the individual requirements of the specific use in mind.
Pictures and building blue prints are also available on this website.

Colle Val d’Elsa (Siena)

Colle Val d'Elsa is a small industrial town (production of crystal) with 20.000 residents, located in the heart of Tuscany, on the outskirts of the famous Chianti area. It is a popular destination because of its proximity to important art centers such as Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra . The history of Colle before the 11th century is lost in obscurity. However etruscan and roman remains have been found in the area. Before 1175 its name was "Castello di Piticciano", then changed to Colle di Val d'Elsa. In 1269 it was the scene of a bloody battle between Florence and Siena, a battle relevant for important future events and mentioned by Dante Alighieri. In 1596 it was granted the rank of "civita" (city) by the Medici family thanks to important commercial activities, its active cultural life and its relevant citizens. Colle Val d'Elsa is divided into two parts: the lower town (the industrial and commercial part) is located on the Elsa river, while the upper section is a magnificent medieval and renaissance town. It is very well preserved and offers fascinating views.
